THE VETERANS GALLERY

THE VETERANS GALLERY

This Gallery contains photos of some of the brave men who served in Louisiana's (Grays) 28th Infantry Regiment. These men left their families, homes and livelihoods to answer Louisiana's call. For over four years, these men endured the hardships of war. They survived the extreme weather, sickness and hunger. Many received horrible wounds. Many died terrible deaths. These men were soldiers.

In the words of General Richard Taylor, in his official report after the battle of Irish Bend;

"Col. Gray and his regiment. . . deserve most favorable mention. Their gallantry in action is enhanced by the excellent discipline which they have preserved, and no veteran soldiers could have excelled them in their conduct during the trying scenes through which they passed."

I am proud to post these photos.
