"My great grandfather William Hudson Harper was a Private in Co. K, G of the 28th. He was born in Jasper County Mississippi October 22,1835 he died In Rapides Parish Louisiana December 26, 1906. He is buried in the Lecompte Cemetery, Lecompte Rapides Parish, Louisiana. He had four brothers that served. Three of them served in The 27th Louisiana Infantry Regiment. Two of his brothers died in the war."

Hudson, May 11, 1863. Transferred to New Orleans to be exchanged. Roll dated Aug. 31, 1863, Prisoner. Roll of Prisoners of War, Paroled Natchitoches, La., June 7 or 14, 1865. Res. Winn Par. or Rapides Par., La.
