Roll for July and Aug., 1863, Absent without leave. // This information submited by: Mack Kidd [mkidd@cchat.com] "I will send you the text of the letter written by Iverson S. Kidd's father in 1866. It gives a very good insight to the plight of those who lived in the south after the war. ...His father lived in Campbell County, Ga. and is writing to a daughter and son in law that I believe lived in Texas at the time. He had six sons that served in the Confederacy, and 3 nephews that also served. All of them served in Co. C, 35th Georgia Infantry with the exception of Iverson S. Kidd who had moved to Winn Parish La. and Oliver C. Kidd Jr. who joined the 4th Georgia Reserves, and was a guard at Camp Sumter (Andersonville Prison). Only 3 of the sons survived the war, and none of the nephews survived. All three of the surviving sons migrated to Louisiana, Texas and Oklahoma. The son that settled in Louisiana was William LaFayette Kidd is mentioned in "History of Louisiana by Chamber" Vol. II pg 44. The article is written about his son, Dr. Orum Lafayette Kidd.
