G 28th La Infantry. His commanders were listed as; Capt. David Hardy, Col. Hy Gray, then at end of war, Capt. David Hardy, 1st Lt. Joseph Robbins." (12/29/98)

Apperson, John Thomas, The following information is from Dan Jackson DSWBD@aol.com It seems his records were lost and he had to have sworn statements from some of the people he served with. J.T. served from 1863 to 1865 and was discharged from service at the end of the war, disbanded at Clear Creek Louisiana. He was born in Perry County Alabama in 1846 or 1847.

Question 10 on the [pension] application: What was the letter of your company, number of battilion, regiment or battery. Answer: 28th louisiana Regiment, Company I, Wesley Poole, Colonel, Rufus Richard, 1st Lieut. G.P. Leggett, 2nd Lieut., W.E. Ware 3rd Lieut. Jno. B Wright 1st Sgt.

L.G. Barnett of Union Parish, W.W. Green, R.L. Tatum, A. J. Wright and D. M. Wright are names as listed from Union Parish Louisiana, they are hand written and can find no other refference to them in his affidavit.

I have a statement form G.L. Wilder. I served with appliocant J.T. Apperson in Company I 28th Louisiana Regiment for about two years. We were disbanded at the end of the war. i was Sargeant in said Company . I saw the applicant many times during the army in that company, and knew him before the war, during the war and after the war. I know the applicant is the same man who served with me as above stated. I saw the applicant at the reunion in Dallas, Texas about fifteen years ago. Dated 2 Oct. 1917

W.W. Green I served as a private in Company I 28th louisiana Regiment with the applicant J.T. Apperson. We served together in the confederate army for about two years. I knew the applicant before the war during the war and after the war. I saw the applicant many times during the service together in the confederate army, ate with him and slept with him, and was on duty with him many times. I know the applicant is the same party who served with me as stated above.

A.T. Wright: I served with J. T. Apperson in the confederate army for about two years. We served in Company I 28th Louisiana Regiment. I knew the applicant before the war, during the war and after the war and know that he is the same party who served with me in the confederate army. I saw him many times in the army, almost daily, we were mess mates. (Added 7/18/98)
